With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I have soooo many things I need to accomplish before the big day. Housecleaning, laundry, shopping for groceries, cooking, and having everything perfect for Thanksgiving Day when the family and guests arrive for that special meal and time together. I guess we all get overwhelmed with all the preparation. So, I have a few minutes to myself this morning to think about Thanksgiving and what it really means to me and I am sure to most of you.

When all the work is done, the turkey is ready and we gather around the table, that is the most special time of Thanksgiving Day to me. I look around at all the faces of friends and family, their smiles, their joy, their laughter, and then the silence as we pause to pray our Thanksgiving prayer. In that moment, all the other things don’t even matter anymore. It’s being together and thanking God for all the blessings we have enjoyed through the years. The love of family is a special thing because we were taught about love from the Master. Today is the day we put aside all the chaos, business of the season and concentrate on one thing…. Thankfulness to God who loves us unconditionally in spite of ourselves. Just as a Father loves his children, just as The Good Shepherd loves his sheep.

We have learned many things about ourselves in our Small Group. We have studied the subject, “What Makes Us Happy”. It’s really so simple. It is the love, contentment, joy and peace that we can only receive from Jesus Christ. All the rest is just clutter. I need less clutter and more Jesus. How about you?

“ Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. “
-1 Thessalonians 5:18

I pray wonderful Thanksgiving blessings for each and everyone of you.

With Love,
